ELLESMERE A. AND P. ASSOCIATION.
A Committee meeting of this Association was held in Spring s Hotel, Leeston, lon Tuesday last. Present, —Messrs J. R. Campbell (President), W. G. Lunn, J. Barnett, F. Jameson, W. D. Lawrence, D. Overton, P. J. Henley, W. H. Woodman, W. Maddison, T. B. Howson, John Boag, D. H. Lemon, R. Prankish, T. W. Durant, R. Lochead, J. Osborne, W. Watson, senr., G. Stephens, senr.. H. Hight, J. Rennie, H. Alington, and —. H. Mathias. Mr J. Macleod wrote asking permission to withdraw as a member of the Association. Granted. The Sub-Committee appointed to revise the programme handed in their report. After some discussion, last season's programme was adopted with a few amendments. The addition being two classes in sheep, two classes in ponies, an extra class for a farmer's spring cart horse, one class for thoroughbreds, and an alteration in class for hunters. The prize to be awarded to the horse that jumps in the best style, irrespective of points. It was decided to give two prizes for implements. |Mr F. Jameson moved, in accordance with the report presented at the annual meeting— " That the amount of prize money be published on the programme, also that the flrst prize for the best collection of implements be £3, and tbe second prize £2." Seconded by Mr Maddison. Mr F. Over ton moved as an amendment—" That the amount of the prize be not published." This was carried by the casting vote of the Chairman. The following gentlemen were duly nominated as members of the Association. Messrs Frank Jackson, F. G. Craddock, and W. H. Giles. It was decided, that the booths and rights of sports be submitted by public auction. The Secretary announced that Sir John Hall again offered a special prize of £10 10s, and that he wished it applied, if possible, to dairy produce. Mr Gosset offered a special prize of £2 2s for fresh ] butter. Mr T. B. Howson offered a special prize of £3 3s for a horse-hoe adapted for hoeing growing corn. Several gentlemen promised to give the same special prizes that they gave last season. Mr Osborne stated that he wished his special prize of £5 5s given for 61b of table butter most suitable for London market, to be made three weeks prior to the show. The Judges for all the different classes were elected, and the meeting adjourned.
