AUCKLAND, November 9. To-day was observed as a general holiday, and. the dty bore a deserted appearance. Besides, the races at EUershe, a large number of water excursions and picnics were organised, and steamers carvied large numbers to various points out of town. WELLINGTON, November 9. The weather thi3 morning was threatening, but towards noon cleared up and remained beautifully fine for all excursions. The day was observed as a general holiday, and, with one or two exceptions, all business houses in the town were closed. DUNJEDIN, November 9. The weather was on the wholp- good for the holiday. Meenan won the 100 Yards in XI l-ssec; A. Murray (230 yds) One Mile Bicycle Hace; B. Baucnop (lSyds) won the 830 Yards Handicap in 43sec. The 120 yds Hurdle, far the championship of New Zealand, was won by G. Shaw, til Cbristchurcb, in 18sec; Pram, 2; Boberteon, 3. Steadman, from scratch, won the Three-mile Boadster Bicycle Bace; Bauchop fllyds) the 150 yds race, Boal (20yds) the One-mile Walk. Half-mile Flat Bace, for championship, Morrison (Tlmaru); Hooper, 2. Time, 2min 6Jsec. Morrison also won the Mile Race. The Five Mile Boadster Bicycle Bace was won by Milne.
