AUCKLAND, February 18. A great fight took plaoo over the licensing elections is the city wards to-day between the Moderate ticket and the Temperance ticket. North Ward elected 4 (?) Temperane; 1 Moderate; South Ward— 3 Moderate; 2 Temperance. East War* same as South. Grafton Ward—The cabdidates were all on the Temperance ticket. The result ie considered a victory for the Moderate ticket, as the contest was really in the South-east and North Warde.
WELLINGTON, February 18. At.the licensing election to-day the Temperance party gained the day in Cook Ward, the publicans in To Aroand Lambton, and the Moderate party in Thorndon.
