The usual monthly meeting pf this Board | took place at Boad Board Office, Yaldhurst, on Monday last. Present—Messrs j Amyes, Bailey, Carpenter, Daweon, and Jones. The Clerk safo this/being the first meeting since their election the first business would be to elect their chairman. Mr Jones then moved, and Mr Amyes seconded that Mr Bailey be re-elected as chairman until the next general election, which was put to the meeting and carried, and after a few brief remarks the minutes of the last meeting were read and confirmed. A letter was read from Mr James Lane, offering to rent Reserves 328, 329, and 1378. After due. consideration the Board declined-the offer. A letter was read from the Selwyn County Council, asking fnformation. about the small birds nuisance in the district, and in accordance with the dictation, of the Board, the Clerk was ;in» structed to reply. A letter was also read from, the Crown Lands Office, asking tdi-be] informed if any and what planting* -has been done ty the Board since July, 1884. Aβ no planting has been done in this district since that date, the Clerk was instructed to reply accordingly. A letter was also received from the Charitable Aid Boerd, Chriatchurch, enclosing . balance sheet of receipts and expenditure of the various charitable institutions for the year ending 31st March, 1886. The Clerk reported that a fixed deposit at the Union Bank for .£IOOO would mature on the 7th inst., and would require to be farther dealt with, when ; it • was ' resolved—That the, principal be re-deposited at the same Bank) for a further period of twelve months, and. the interest accrued thereon be passed to current account. A statement of revenue and expenditure of the South Waimakariri Biver Board for period ending 31st .March last was also received., The Clerk was then instructed to ascertain at what cost her could" get chippinga from the stone - breaking mill deuvered at the footpaths at Templeton. The question of the appointment of dog ranger for the district next occupied the attention of the Board for some time; and the Clerk was instructed to advertise for a person willing to act in that capacity, and in the meantime'place a- list of names of owners of unregistered dogs in the neighborhood in the hands of- the police. The Clerk was then instructed to prepare specifications for making a footpath at Hornby Junction twelve chains in length, and also for one on the west side of the Church road at Templeton, in continuation of the one already made to the cross road at Haddison'e, a distance of about thirtyfive chains, and advertise for tenders for same, returnable for next meeting of the Board. In consideration of a portion of the Spreydon Boad District haying been recently added tp this v district on the East and South-East boundary, the following resolution was adopted—" That the Chairman, Mr Amyes, and the Clerk, be appointed a deputation to wait on the Spreydon Boad Board with a view to making arrangements with that body for a fafa* and equitable division of their finances as affecting that portion of the Spreydon district recently annexed to the district, in accordance with Clause 5 of the Boad Boards Act." After other works of a minor detail had been disposed of, and instructions- given for oarrying them out, the monthly pay-sheet, amounting , to JBl9 11s, was adopted and passed, and the meeting adjourned.
