TAI TAPU.

The monthly meeting of this Board was held on the 6th inst. Present—The Chairman and all the members. The minutes of the last meeting were confirmed and the Clerk's report considered, after which it was agreed that three members of the Board visit the contract on the back road in company with the Clerk, with a view to arrange as to what portion of the necessary work has been undone on said contract. With regard to Gertren's bridge, the' Clerk was authorised to carry out necessary lepairs as per his report, with new railings added. A subscription list to amount jB7 towards extending a culvert acro3B main road on Township drain was handed in from Borne inhabitants, and it was resolvedthat as soon aa said amounts are paid to the Clerk he may call tenders for the work, Mr Forbes, on behalf of himself and the trustees in Jthe estate of Mrs Shodes, promising the balance required by the Board aa half cost of said culvert. Letters were received from the Springe Boact Board, that special attention is at present directed towards the cleaning of the Biver Halswell, and requesting that in future this Board would undertake the eupervision of the work. It was resolved that this : Board will do so in future contracts of cleaning Biver ' Halswell. From the Selwyn County Council, that Mr Forbes ia appointed dog registrar for the district, and that half the revenue from dog licenses will be paid to the j Board. From the Engineer for constructed - railwaye, that the railway reserve at Tai Tapu will not in future be wanted by that department; and that the Board could arrange with the Chief Commissioners of Crown Lands as to getting an acre for Boad Board purposes. It was resolved that application be made to the Commissioner for one acre for erection.of a Board office. From the Selwyn County Council, requesting to be informed what sparrow clubs j existed in the district, and what has been done by way of extinguishing small birds nuisance. It was resolved that Mr Bainey, late Chairman of the Sparrow Club, be asked to furnish the Clerk with all necessary information, to be sent to the Council. It was resolved that all thistles on main roads be cut, and that the Clerk attend to same. Accounts were passed for payment, and it was agreed that during harvest weather the meetings of the Board will be held at seven o'clock |p.m. on .the usual days.
