Everyone being busy with the harvest resulted in only about half a dozen persons forming the public meeting of ratepayers on January sth. .

The minutes of the last public meeting having been read and confirmed, the chairman'lead a report of the proceedings of the Board during the past year, and having explained the different items, laid a balancesheet upon the table. The receipts, including a small overdraft, being £1712 10s 7d, and the. expenditure the same. Messrs Bailey and Rogers having retired, by rbfation, the chairman called upon those present to elect two members in their places. Messrs Bailey and Hepworth were then elected without any opposition.

The Chairman then addressing the meeting, informed them that he would be shortly leaving the district, but would continue in office until that time, and gave a slight resume of the Board's doings since the commencement, he having been Chairman of the first Board,

The meeting having expressed their regret at losing his services, it was resolved, " That the thanks of this meeting of ratepayers be given to Mr Tosswill for his efficient services during the time he has been chairman of the Board, and for the interest he has always shown in the welfare of the district." The meeting then dispersed.
