NELSON.

The Examiner, in its monthly summary, published on the 11th instant, cays :— At tbe date of our last summary, a large trade was being done here with the Hokitika goldfields ; the heavy gales which have since prevailed on the West Coast, kept the several steamers a long time on their passage,- and, in addition, large quantities of goods have been landed at Hokitika from Melbourne and Dunedin, which have been forced on the market, so that lately few orders of any importance have been received thence; this, coupled with the dullness in town and country trade alluded to in our last, has been severely felt during the last week or two, but we trust that a reaction will shortly take place, as stocks are very full, and the Rose arrived last night from London with a heavy cargo. At this moment we do not know of any article of importance at all short of supply. Prices, generally, are not so well supported as they were last month, and flour, which was then down at £28, fell to £24 towards the end of the month, and is now worth only £20.
