SYDNEY.

The Herald, of the 29th ultimo, reports :— Since our monthly summary was published we have very little movement to notice in our markets. Business has been quiet this week, and with the exception of some large sales of teas privately, and sugars and rice by auction, the transactions have been confined to supplying immediate wants. Flour is rather firmer, but first brands of Adelaide are still quoted at £22 to £23 per ton. Wheat is scarce, and holders are quoting Adelaide at 9s 6d to 10s per bushel. In liquids the only alteration is a Blight decline in brandy and rum, the former being offered at 8s 6d, and the latter at 3s lOd. Teas are firmer, and congous in chests have brought improved rates. Sugars are also firmer, and at auction full rates were realised. Rice : About 150 tons of new rice were quitted at £19 10s, by Mr Dean, on Wednesday, and the balance of the cargo was withdrawn for higher prices. In other articles of daily consumption we have no alteration to notice. Our tobacco advices are to hand per mail, and from which we find an unusual falling-off of shipments of tobacco to the colonies. The following exports may be relied on:—From London to Sydney, 12,038 lbs ; from New York and Boston to this port, 10,999 lbs. Very little sound manufactured tobacco was in the London warehouse, although stocks were plentiful in the aggregate, prices ranging from 8d to 3s.
