The Council And Electricity Supply Licence Renewal
A decision not to cancel its electricity supply licence and apply for a new one for a term of 21 years as is done in many towns was made at a meeting of the Whakatane Borough Council on Monday night. The Mayor, Mr B. S. Barry, said the Council’s licence would not expire until 1963 and there would be nothing to be gained by cancellation and renewal now.
It was decided to write according to the Taihape Borough Council, which had enquired as to Whakatane’s intentions.
