Good Prices Made For Heifer Lines At Special Sale
Dalgety and Co. Ltd. report having held their special dairy heifer sale on Thursday at Opotiki when the advertised number of heifers came forward. The cattle were in excellent condition but being mainly off the hills did not show as far forward as cattle off the easy country. An excellent sale resulted with prices satisfactory to vendors, and a total clearance was effected.
The top line of exceptionally well grown two year old heifers on account of Mr J. B. Stansbury realised £2l, another line of good coloured heifers very close to profit on account of the same breeder, realised £2O, and yet another line belonging to Mr J. Power, which was smaller but showed a lot of breeding also realised £2O. There were several other lines making £l7 and £lB. Realisations were:—
Well grown and well forward heifers, £2O to £2l; good coloured close to profit, £lB to £l9: smaller and mixed colours, £l4 to £l7; backward heifers, depending on quality, £9 to £ll.
