Development Of Africa
Scientific Conference In Johannesburg(Rec. 8.40 a.m.) London, Oct. 28. The African Scientific Conference in Johannesburg ended today. It has been attended by more than 100 delegates from Great Britain, France, Belgium, Portugal, and the whole of Africa south of the Sahara.
The conference aimed at finding ways to improve scientific work over most of Africa as a step towards the development of the continent.
A correspondent says the unanimous view of the delegates is that the conference has produced a solid achievement by recommending the setting up of a permanent scientific council, for African territories south of the Sahara.
If the Governments concerned in Africa agree, the correspondent says, the council would be a centre to provide the driving force for all scientific activities in the greater part of Africa.
