TOUR OF HONGKONG DEFENCES
FEILD-MARSHAL SLIM’S EXAMINATION (Rec. 8.45 a.m.) London, Oct. 28. The Chief of the Imperial General Staff (Field-Marshal Sir William Slim) made a 60-mile tour today of the Hongkong defence. He was accompanied by the commander in chief of the Far East Land Force and by the local commander. ■ ’. He visited the headquarters and various units of the 40th Division. He spent some time with the second battalion of his old regiment, the Sixth Gurkha Rifles. He also visited two hill-top observation posts overlooking the frontier area.
