EFFECT OF WATER RESTRICTIONS
ROOM FOR IMPROVEMENT IN TAURANGA
ABNORMAL DEMAND DURING
DRY SPELL
Commenting yesterday on the effect of the recent restrictions placed on flic use of water in Tauranga, the Borough Engineer, Mr C. W. Boak said pressure readings indicated that many people were complying with the regulations. He thought, however, that there was sti'll much room for improvement. The restrictions have been imposed because of the extra demands for water during the dry period. The pipe-line is insufficient to carry this addditional volume but there is an ample quantity of water in the river from which the supply is drawn.
Writing to the Bay of Plenty Times, a resident has some pertinent comment to make on the situation. He remarks that during an evening walk in one section of the town, figures were seen in the failing light ‘‘giving the garden a drop.” The principal sound borne on the night air was the swish of hoses and sprinklers.
