WEEKEND CRICKET IN TAURANGA
ILES AND COMPANY TOO GOOD FOR P. AND T.
VICTORY BY INNINGS AND 33 RUNS
A cricket team representing lies and Company gained a decisive win by an innings and 33 runs in a weekend match against a Tauranga Post and Telegraph team on the Tauranga' Domain. Batting first, P. and T. compiled 72 runs, C. Curt A (24), Pinkerton (12 not out) and T. Pickett (11) being the only batsmen to reach double figures. Bowling honours for lies and Company were shared by Watson and Lund, who each secured four wickets for 18 and 25 runs respectively. Bright oatting by London (41), McLean (36 not out), Sherwin (34)
and E. lies (25) enabled lies and Company to gain a good lead on the first innings, the last wicket falling after the total had reached 183. Pickett secured three wickets for 18 runs. In their second knock, P. and T. could only compile 78 runs, Curtis (26) and Pickett (23 not out) scoring over half the total. Bowling for lies and Company, Austin captured six wickets for 23 runs.
