FEWER BIRTHS IN TAURANGA
EIGHTY-ONE IN THREE MONTHS VITAL STATISTICS FOR PERIOD Births for the first three months of this year, as shown by the records of the Registrar of Births Deaths and Marriages in Tauranga (Mr J. H. Dashwood) were fewer than in the corresponding period of last year. The death rate hhs
been lower also, while the number of marriages has been maintained. Six marriage licences were issued last month, compared with 10 for the corresponding period in 1947, although the respective totals for the first three months v/ere 26 in both years. Twenty-two births were registered in March. 1948, while the number for March, 1947 was 34. For the first three months of this year the total was 81, as against 98 in January, February and March of 1947. 1 , , There were seven deaths last month and 22 for the first three months. In the month of March 1947 deaths totalled 10, and 26 for the first three months.
