RECORD PRICE FOR RAM

825 GUINEAS PAID AT SALE

(P.A.) Palmerston N., Jan. 14. A record price was paid for a New Zealand bred stud Southdown ram at the second day of the Manawatu and West Coast stud sheep sale at Feilding today. Mr J. Bartlett, of Manganoho, near Hunterville, paid 825 guineas for a ram bred by Messrs B. Illston and Sons, Hunterville. Except for imported rams, this price has never been exceeded in New Zealand and possibly not in Australia. The buoyancy of the market may be appreciated from the fact that the first eight rams offered realised 5030 guineas or an average of 628 guineas.
