FOOD SITUATION IN MALAYA
TWO-THIRDS OF NEEDS IMPORTED

The Governor-General of Malaya, Mr Malcolm MacDonald, has arrived in London by air from Karachi. He is to stay several weeks for consultations with Ministers.
Discussing the food situation at Singapore, Mr MacDonald said that only about a third of what was eaten there was grown locally. Recovery, he added, would be a slow process.
