WOMAN RESCUED IN SURF

INCIDENT AT MOUNT MAUNGANUI

PROMPT ACTION OF CLUB MEMBERS A woman in difficulties in the surf on the ocean beach at Mount Maunganui yesterday afternoon was rescued, following the prompt action of two members of the Mount Maunganui Surf and Life Saving Club. The two rescuers were H. M. Lennox and N. McMaster who, seeing that the woman was distressed, went to her rescue. On reaching the shore the woman was exhausted to the point of collapsing, but after x’esting for a while she was able to return to her home. The club’s siren was not sounded.
