CHOLERA SCOURGES EGYPT AND PAKISTAN
DRUGS SENT BY PLANE TO COMBAT OUTBREAKS
37 DEATHS IN FORMER COUNTRY, AND 109 SUSPECTED CASES DRASTIC ACTION BY NEIGHBOURING STATES TO STOP SPREAD London, Sept. 28. Almost every plane of British Overseas Airways leaving London airports for the East today took a consignment of drugs to help the fight against cholera in Egypt and Pakistan. Deaths from cholera in Egypt have risen to 37 by last night and the Health Ministry reported 109 new suspected cases in 24 hours, four in the Cairo area.
Action is being taken throughout the country for a prompt end to the scourge.
Agency messages say that Persia, Irak, Turkey and Greece have taken drastic steps-to stop travellers carryingcholera from Egypt.
