Liberators Bomb Sicilian Ports
London, Feb. 4
In Tunisia Allied forces in .the Bon Arada area have taken a hill about eight miles away from the town. They stormed the enemy positions and fought all the way to the top of the hill which is 2,00 0 feet high. The United States forces are still holding the town of Sened. The enemy airfield at Gabes has been attacked by Allied bombers and they also raided the aerodrome at Maknassi.
The patrols of the Bth Army are reported to he active all along the front near the Tunisian border. They are keeping in contact with the enemy rearguard. Yesterday the R.A.F. sank four small enemy supply ships carrying supplies to Rommel’s rearguard in this area from Tunisian ports further north. Air Marshal Sir Sholto Douglas, Commander-in-Chief of British Air Forces in the Middle East, has announced that our Mosquito bombers and now operating from Malta. These speedy machines have been flown at 400 miles an hour. United States Liberators yesterday attacked Palermo and Messina in Sicily. They hit oil storage tanks and a number of other targets.
