BUS AND LORRY COLLIDE

ACCIDENT NEAR ROTORUA TWO TAURANGA RESIDENTS INJURED . Three passengers in a N.Z. Road Services' bus suffered minor injuries when the vehicle was involved in a collision on Sunday with a heavymotor lorry on the main Tauranga Road about 14 J miles from Rotorua. The accident was at a point on the highway where there is a sharp bend and a fairly steep grade. The bus, driven by Mr R." Nicholson, of Rotorua, was practically fully laden, and was going in the direction of Tauranga when it met a six-wheeler lorry - carrying sheep in Henry Morgan, of Rotorua. The right-hand mudguards of the vehicles met in collision. Injuries to passengers in the bus were suffered by Mr W. Hay, of Tauranga, who was cut on the nose and under the right eye; Mrs Snow, of Tauranga, who received a bruised right leg; and Mrs Taiatini, of Okere Falls, who had her lip cut. The truck, owned by Mr A. D. Hardie, carrying contractor, of Rotorua, and the bus were not severely damaged and little delay was occasioned by the passengers, a bus being dispatched immediately to complete the journey. An unfounded rumour was circulated yesterday to the effect that another mishap had occurred to a bus in this service at Te Puke. The only accident which has occurred on this service is that reported.
