Mrs G.' J. Hayman has been appointed registrar of births and deaths of Maoris at Motiti Island. Mrs W. Ferguson, Maungatapu, returned to Tauranga on Friday from a visit to Christchurcb.

Mrs Sneddon left on Saturday for Hawera with her daughter, Mrs E. Taylor. The appointment of Mr W. F. Mr F. W. Doidge, M.P., left yesterday for Christchurch, where he will assist the National candidate in the Christchurch East by-election. Mr Doidge will remain in Christchurch until after the election.
