Mrs G.' J. Hayman has been appointed registrar of births and deaths of Maoris at Motiti Island. Mrs W. Ferguson, Maungatapu, returned to Tauranga on Friday from a visit to Christchurcb.
Mrs Sneddon left on Saturday for Hawera with her daughter, Mrs E. Taylor. The appointment of Mr W. F. Cobb as deputy-registrar of marriages, births and deaths for the Tauranga district has been gazetted. Lieutenant I. McLaren, of Tauranga, has resigned his commission in the Home Guard, according to the latest Gazette.
The appointment of F. D. Lauder, of Tauranga, to the rank of 2nd Lieutenant in the Home Guard has been gazetted.
Mr F. W. Doidge, M.P., left yesterday for Christchurch, where he will assist the National candidate in the Christchurch East by-election. Mr Doidge will remain in Christchurch until after the election.
