Japanese Forced Back
London. Oct. 14
In Xew Guinea the Australians are making more progress toward Kokoda. The Japanese have been forced back by Australian frontal and flank attacks. These attacks, and also the Australian advance, continue. The Japanese are believed to have dug themselves in at Templeton’s Crossing in an attempt to stop the Australians.
Rahaul has been attacked by Flying Fortress bombers for the third time in five days. Many tons of 1000 lb. bombs fell on the town yesterday, when a large force of Allied heavy bombers destroyed many enemy planes on the ground. Large fires were left burning.
Buka, in the Northern Solomons, was also raided at night.
