BRITISH IN INDIA Complete Independence Wanted Nehru Joins Gandhi London. June 17. Pandit Xelmi has now joined with Mr Gandhi in asking the British to leave India. He said that it was essential that Britain should accept the complete independence of India, which could he achieved in no other way except than by the withdrawal of the British. The defence of India was a matter for the Indians themselves, and they would not submit to Germany or Japan. If India was to render any help to China it was essential for India to be free. In the course of his tonr of India the Duke of Gloucester is visiting the province of Bihar and has visited sick and wounded soldiers from the Burma campaign.
