SEBASTOPOL'S STAND

HEAVY ASSAULTS REPELLED Violent Counter-Attacks Germans Hurled Back London. June 17. The Russians have repelled two heavy German and Rumanian attacks on Sebastopol in the past J-I hours. A correspondent in the citadel says the Germans succeeded, after much desperate lighting and heavy losses, in occupying a height but the Russians attacked and drove them out again. Hand-to-hand fighting has been more frequent and in one charge the Germans broke through to the Russian front line trenches hut were unable to withstand the violence of the Russian counter-attack which promptly drove them hack again. Fighting in the Kharkov area has slackened and the Germans have made no ground.
