HAPPY EVENING AT THE RIVOLI

The supper room of the Rivoli Hall was the scene of gay festivity on Wednesday night last when the staff of McKenzie’s Departmental StoVe entertained theii friends to a delightful evening of dancing. Mr T. R. Bird was master of ceremonies. The hall, gaily decorated in the firms’ colours of blue and gold, and an abundance of bright flowers, bespoke of great activity and enterprise on behalf of the Committee, Misses Carson, Willaims and Webber, Mr Martin and Mr Bird. The atmosphere thus created, and backed by the stirring music of the Star Boys’ Orchestra from Te Puke, was the subject of much favourable comment from a hall packed almost to capacity. Prizes were distributed to winners of the Monte Carlo and Lucky Spot dances. They were:—Monte Carlo winners, Miss Reichardt and Mr Jones, Miss J. Molony and partner. Lucky Spot winners, Mr Pile and Miss Hicks, Miss D. Harper and Mr M. Millan.

At an interval in the evening a dainty supper was served by members of the Committee, assisted by Mrs T. R. Bird, wife of the manager, and enthusiastic members of the staff.

A highly successful evening was brought to a close about 12.30 with a streamer dance, and many tired but happy people were heard to remark, “Good old McKenzip’s.” Thpse present included Mr and Mrs T.
