GOLF

OFFER BY MOUNT MAUNGANUI , CLUB. ■ At the first meeting of the new committee of the Golf Club the Captain, Mr R. T. Goulding, made reference to the death of Mr Wm. Southern, who had been elected by the annual general meeting to the Committee, but had never taken his seat at a committee meeting. A vote of sympathy with his relatives was passed, members standing in silence.

Mr , Sidney Simmons was appointed by the * committee to‘fill the vacancy.

The Mount Maunganui Golf Club has offered the members of the Tauranga Club special playing privileges over the summer months at a greatly reduced subscription. The fairways at the Mount have now been cut and a splendid opportunity is afforded the Tauranga members to keep their game up by summer play. Play in the evenings is becoming increasingly popular in the cities through the summer, and there is no reason why it should become just as popular here. Any Tauranga members, either men or ladies, who are Intending to avail themselves of the offer, should notify the Secretary, who can give them full particulars.
