SOCIAL EVENING

TAURANGA WOMEN'S INSTITUTE

The excellent sum of £5 11s 6drs-. suited from the social arranged by the Tauranga Women’s Institute last night In the Parish Hall, and as there was no expense incurred, the whole sum is to be used in equipplug the two children who are being sent to the Abbotsford home. Despite the very cold night the attendance was quite good, and dancing, interspersed with items, kept things going merrily. Those contributing to the very entertaining programme were Mrs M. Munro, Mies W. Davureu, Miss Hermia Harrison, Mima . Carswell (songs), Miss N. Coughlon (violin solo), Valma Barney, Mount Maunganui (recitations), Mr G, H. Wills (monologues). Messrs W. Stevens, D. McShane, P. Lumley and K. Liggett (male quartette). The accompanists were Miss Grice. Miss Goughian , Mrs Munro and Mr Liggett. Mr Harold Stevens played the dance musiy, assisted by Mrs H. Stevens, violin. Mr C. Tonkin acted as master p( ceremonies, and during the evening on behalf of the President of the Women’s Institute, Mr® M. C. Jones, he thanked all those who had assisted in -.the evening’s programme and also all those who had been present, thus giving their mite to help those in need.
