RE PLACE NAMES.
Sir, — I think we are conversant regarding the origin of most of the names in our district, but I am not aware of those connected with the names—-Judea, Bethlehem and Canaan. One instinctively associates such with the early days of pioneer missionaries, and it would doubtless be instructive to learn the circumstances under which these quaint names were applied. I write in the hope that you, or perhaps some of your readers, would be able to kindly render the information. —1 am, etc., "INTERESTED," Tauranga, Juno 7, 1833.
