CHIEF SCOUT.
QUESTION OF SUCCESSOR. London, March 28. Although General Baden-Powell, who is 75, does not intend to resign Horn the Scout movement, headquarters are considering the question of his successor. Prominent commissioners told a representative of the Referee that Sir Baden-Powell should clearly indicate his successor, but others advocate that the position should be filled by a member of the Royal Family with sufficient time and sympathy for the movement. Several of the commissioners favour an hereditary appointment, devolving on Sir Baden-Powcll’s son, Peter, aged 1!), The majority of the commissioners, however, consider that a successor probably will be chosen from Lord Hampton, author of “Scouting Sketches.” Sir Alfred Pickford, Commissioner of the Boy Scouts’ Association, or Mr Hubert Martin, International Commissioner of the Scouts’ Association.
