SCALDED IN POOL.
ACCIDENT AT WHAKAREWAREWA. Rotorua, March 29. An alarming accident befel Mr C. J. Green, stockbroker, of Auckland, this morning, at Whakarewarewa. Mr Green, in company with his wife, was taking a walk inspecting the thermal activity on the (rig station track in the vicinity of Pan Pan, a boiling cauldron, which becomes active about every 20 minutes. The crust on the edge of the pathway on which he was standing gave way, and one of his legs went into the boiling mineral waters up to the knee.
Mr Green's leg was badly scalded, but he managed to scramble out, and suffering great pain, he limped back to the Geyser Hotel, where he was staying, a distance of nearly a quarter of a mile. He received treatment and was then taken to the King Street Hospital. His condition this evening was reported to be satisfactory. Pan Pan, the cauldron concerned, is the one where a. young lady visitor from Gisborne lost her life when she fell into it about 12 months ago.
