RIDER’S DEATH.
FALL IN I,EALING EVENT. Woodville, March 30. At the Papatawa sports meeting on Easter Monday the horse Evening Hero, when competing in a leaping event, fell and broke his back. His rider, Phillip /Turnbull, of Woodville, aged 19, fell on his head and received concussion. Pie was taken to the Palmerston North Hospital, where he died early this afternoon without regaining consciousness.
