FOOTBALL.
TOURNAMENT AT KAPONGA. The footballers who travelled to Kaponga, Taranaki, to compete in a seven-aside tournament held there during the Easter week-end, acquitted themselves really creditably, gaining the distinction of runners-up in the contest, winning their way to the'final to be beaten narrowly and receiving a Cup for second place. Nineteen teams competed and it will be acknowledged by all that great praise is due to the team for its performance. The following wore the players: Farmer, Cooney, Cleary, McKenzie, Hadley (Te Puke), Cameron, Ferguson (Tauranga). The Hawcra team proved victorious. In (he final Hawera. scored three tries and converted all, while their opponents also obtained three tries, but only converted one.
