VIOLENT ACTIVITY OF KILAUEA VOLCANO

Three persons are unaccounted tor, following a violent explosion in the crater of the volcano of Kilauea in Hawaii Island. Advices from Hilo state that the explosion was the most violent of tho current period of activity in the volcano. There were eleven explosions on Saturday night and three notable ones on Sunday morning, besides numerous lesser disturbances. In each case a loud detonation was followed by a site we r of huge rocks, some of which were hurled three-quarters of a mile. This was followed by a rain of ashes and mud. The rain fa II was tremendous and was accompanied by'brilliant flashes of lightning and violent thunder.
