PRISONER ESCAPES.
Dunedin, Sept 29
A man named John Daniel Black, who was awaiting trial on a charge of attempting to commit a serious assault on a young woman, escaped from gaol. He went from the exercise yard into another yard and scaled a wall 15 feet high. His disappearance was noticed about five minutes later, but' so far he has not been recaptured.
