A Lo^al Complaint.

At the last meeting the Borough Council a letter from Mr S. R. Stewart to Cr Day was read. Mr Stewart complained of thy conduct in the Band Room of the Boy Scouts. He stated that on the evening of September 21st they opened proceedings at 6.30 p.m. and wrestling and i boxing were uninterruptedly continued until 9.45 p.m.—3 1-4 hcu-s of stamping and clattering of heavy boots on a board floor, the windows being' thrown wide open to better annoy those residing near by. If the performance is aeain repeated he is fully resolved to bring the matter before Mr Dyer. —Cr Badger said wrestling and boxing were gond things for boys provided they were under proper con trol. He moved: That the letter be handed to the scoutmaster to report upon.—Cr Tanner seconded.—Cr Day eaid there were other complaints and Cr Castaing stated that the police had reported to him.—The Mayor said other people had told him that the boys did not conduct themselves pro perly, although he stipulated they should behave themselves when he granted the use of the building.—Cr Day moved [an amendment: That the permission given to the Scouls to use the building be rescinded. Many people were complaining and tjje Coun cil should take acticn. He had spoken to the scoutmaster, who promised to take remedial measures, but had failed to do so. —Cr Castaing seconded the amendment, ' but thought tho Scouts should be given another chance.—The Mayor itated he was in sympathy with the Boy Scouts, but not with larrikinism. He would be willing to meet the boys and give them to dearly and distinctly understand that if they did not conduct themselves properly they would not be permitted to have the further use of the building.—Several Couucillora thought it would be a good thing if the Mayor interviewed the boys.—The amendment was negatived and the resolution was carried, the understanding being that the Mayor would meets the Scoutmaster and boys.
