Important Amendments.

Wellington, Sept 21. A Gazette Extraordinary contains additional regulations under the War Regulations Act. By order of thY Military Authority any alien suspected of being disaffected and dangerous may be arrested and detained. No person shall excite, encourage, advise or advocate violence or lawlessness, of disorder, or express any seditious intention. No person shall, whether a principal or agent, sell, transfer or supply to or procure any firearm or ammunition Bave in purauance of a permit issued under this regulation. Every such permit shall be signed and issued by the superintendent or inspector of police and shall specify the nature, number or amount of firearms so authorised. Sfcpuld the articles or goods purchased be transferred the names and addresses of parties to the transaction must be furnished. The Minister of Defence may, by notice published in the Gazette, declare any area specified an area in which the possession of firearms or ammunition without a permit is prohibited. H$ may cancel any such notice with respect' to the whole or cny part of ah area so specified. Ko person shall carry a firearm or other dangerous weapon except for some lawful, proper and sufficient purpose and the burden of proving the existence of such purpose shall lie upon the accused. No person without the written petmimon of the superintendent or inspector cf police shall on or in the vicinity of * railway, dock, harbour or ship have in his possession any explosive or highly inflammable liquid in quantities exceeding the substance requirement of his business or occupa* tion. Any constable may search any person for any iirearms, ammunition, explosives or dangerous weapons which may be carried by him and may detain him for the purposes of tuch search. In these regulations the tenrii "firearm" and "ammunition" shall not include: (a) Shotguns of the kind ordinarily used in New Zealand for sporting purposes, (b) ammunition for such shotgun, (c) firearms or aroraahi' tion belonging to or supplied by my Department of the executive Government and lawfully in the possession of any member of the defence Of police force, or any other person. The Minister of Defence may declare anf highway adjoining or intersecting any camp of military training or exercise as closed to traffic.
