De- " ceased wa3 born in Nenagh, County Tipperary, Ireland, and when a young man left for the Australian diggings. Later, he joined the First Waikato Militia and proceeded to New Zealand, taking part in many engagements in the neighbourhood of Tauranga and in I other portions the Bay of Plenty. Subsequently he was attached to the • Armed Constabulary and settled in Tauranga, where he resided up to the time of his demise. He is survived by a widow and grown-up family of three sons and five daughters, for whom much sympathy will be felt in j their bereavement.
