Natives Repelled with Severe
Loss.

Two notorious chieftains, with six hundred hostile tribesmen, attacked a small British force occupying Bushire on the Bth and 9th inst. Keserves arriving drove out the natives with the bayonet, and the cavalry charged the fugitives, causing severe losses. Our casualties are not fully known. Kec Sept 14, 9.55 a.m. Calcutta, Sept 13. Details of the Shab Kadir fighting show that ten thousand Mohmands were raiding the border, burning villages, and seizing women and children.
The climax was reached on the sth, when General Campeli attacked a front of four miles. By clever tactics the enemy were drawn from their trenches and driven into a common centre, around which tbe Britsh formed a crescent, like a Zulu "impi." General Campbell's big guns showeredja storm of lyddite into them, the fight lasting six hours. The enemy lost 1200 killed and wounded. ,
It was noticeable that- the enemy 's shooting was accurate, and it showed disciplined formation while attacking. The enemy evacuated their position on the 6tn inst.
