In the unavoidable absence of Mr Robbins, Chairman of the Board, Mr Macmillan occupied the chair. A letter was received from the Minister of Internal Affairs nominating Mr B. C. In February last the Tauranga Fire Board, through Mr E. C. Palmer, of Auckland,' purchased a hose reel from the Auckland City Council, and the carter employed by Mr Palmer, without consulting anjon?, took a reel from the Grey Lynn Fire Station. The Auckland City Council considered that the wrong reel was taken, and asked that the reel taken be returned when they would forward what ihey considered was the reel purchased.

The matter was fully explained by Mr H. S. Malcolm, who stated that the reel sold by the Auckland City Council was the one taken. As, however, the price was rather low the Board decided to make an expiatory payment to the Auckland City Council of £13, making the total cost of the reel £25. Accounts amounting to £43 4s 4d were passed for payment. It was resolved that 18 firemen be the maximum strength of the Brigade until the war is over, so that those who have gone to the front will be able to resume their places when they return. The annual report and audited balance-sheet submittedjby the secretary were approved.
