The ordinary meeting of the Borough Council will be held this eveniug.

At the last meeting of the Tauraaga County Council a conimuuication was read from the Secretary of Agriculture intimating > that the plant Jmowa as goat's rue (Galega ofiituualis) has been added to the third schedule of the Noxious Weeds Act. The effect of this is that any local authority may now declare, by special order, the plant to be a noxious weed within ita district. Ihe Department's officers will then see that the clearing of the weed is enforced. It was also stated that goat's ru& is spreading in some districts, particularly around VVoodville and Palmerston North, where it has resulted in one or two cases of mortality amongst sheep.—Several councillors said they did not know the weed referred to and the Chairman was authorised to interview Mr L J B Grant, fields inspector, and report on the subject to the next meeting of the Council.
