Loading Bank at Milton Railway Station.

THE MINISTER'S REPLY TO MR ALLEN. NO FACILITIES FOR EXTENSION. Recently several gentlemen approached Mr James Allen, M,P. tor Bruce, in regard to the erection of a high loading bank at Milton, and Mr Allen put himself in communication with tho Minister, and is in recoipt of tho following communication : Head Office, Wellington, 18 h June, 1909. Sir,— Referring to your letter in regard to the loading buiiks at Milton Station, I have the honor to inform you that both banks are in very cramped posi" tions, and could not bo .altored to make them suitablo ior tips, There is no convenient site for a third loading bank, and tho amount of traffic for which a high levol tip could bo used would not warrant any expenditure in making one. There is a little road motal sent away from Milton, but tho traffic is very intermittent, and any exceptional dovolopment is not expected. The existing facilities sufficiently meet the public requirements, aud I regret that I cannot in the meantime authorise any expenditure in the direction asked fcr. J. A.
