Put the sugar on the stove with just enough water tormelt it. Aseoon as it boils, put the tomatoes in whole with the skins 0n..; Draw the kettle back where it will simmer gently. Cook until transparent, about two hours. Skim them out carefully, and drain off all the j syrup. Spread them on platters to dry, iv the sun, if possible. Sprinkle a little sugar over them \ehile drying, and the next day turn them, and sprinkle again with, sugar. Do so for two or three days. When sufficiently dry,- pack in. boxes.
