DELICIOUS CUCUMBER PICKLES.
.Take oiie: : dozen cucumbers about the size of the second finger, wash them, being care ful not to rub off the pickles or break: the skin. Add fresh cold water to cover them and: dissolve in' the water about two tablespoonfuls of:,; salt., i Let. ; them ; stand over night, then remove from the water and wipe them.,! Scald enough vinegar to cover them, diluting°with one-fourtlTpart water if it be very sharp. Add to the : vinegar one bay leaf, four whole cloves and four pepper corns and pour all over the pickles. Let it remain until cold, then pour ofl the vinegar and scald again, place the pickles in glass jars and pour the scalding vinegar over them. Fill to overflowing and seal the same as for canned fruit. These are ready to use in 24 hours and will be found to be delicious.
