Marriage at Kaitangata (From Our Own Correspondent .)

A most interesting ceremony took place here last Wednesday, namely, the marriage of one of out well-known business men, Mr George M'Donnell, to Miss Mary Aitebeson, seoond daughter of Mr William Aitcheaon. The oeremony took place at tne residence of the bride's parents, and waß performed by the Rev. R Fairmaid, minister of the Pres bytorian Church. The marriage wrb arranged for three o'olook and waß witnessed by forty-five of the family relations and friends. The bride looked .lovaJy very handsome dress of cream ovepon trimmed with cream lace, also an Bicquiait'J train and veil to matoh. Sheo*rried aba autiful bouquet, and wore a ooßtly gold roooh, the gift of the bridegroom. Mibb Ellen Watson acted in the capacity of bridesmaid and wore a becoming dreaa of cream oaahmere trimmed with Bame colored lace and ribbons ; she carried a lovely boaquet, the gift of the bridegroom. The office of beßt man was ably tilled by Mr Stephen Aitoheson, the bride'a brother. After the oeremony waa over come forty guests Bat down to a substantial wedding breakfast, and in the evening Mr and Mrs Aitoheaon held a reoeption, at which nearly seventy guests attended. The host and hostess did all in their power to make things go merrily for both young and old, dancing and Binging beiug in the aaoendant till long past midnight. Everyone was highly pleased with the handsome entertainment they had received. Among the guests whom I noticed were Mr and Mra Denniston, Duuedin ; Mr and Mrs J. Aitoheson, Duuedin ; Miss Scott, Dunedin ; Mr Stewart, Milton j Mr and Mra Inneß, Clinton ; Mr W. M. Shore, Mr and Mrs W. H. M'Kenzle, Misses Mitohell (8), Wangaloa ; Misses Muir, Thomson, Lawaon, Smaill, and Johnetone, Mr and MrßHitchon, Mr and Mrß G. Aitoheson, Mr and Mrs Kelly, Measrs Clark and B Aitoheaon, Mr and Mra M'Laren, Mr and Mra A. Aitoheßon, Mra Fairley (bridegroom's mother), Mr and Mra Cornish, Mr and MraO. Smaill, and many others whom I did not reoognia-v The'dreßaes were very pretty and tasteful. Here are a few of the more attractive onea : — Mra W. Aitoheaon black silk with jet trimming, Mra Fairley black silk with old point laoe, Mrß Hitohon maroon Bilk, Misses Mitohell pretty oream dreaaea, Mra M'Laren fawn cashmere, Miaa Thomson black oashmere 1 , Mrs G. Aitoheson fawn oashmore, Misa Lawaon black grenadine; Mra Kelly rich black silk, Mra J. Aitoheaon mauve with tartan: trimmming, Mra M'Kenzie drab colored oaahmere, Mra Cornish pretty grey Bilk, Mra A. Aitoheson. very rioh dark blue dress, Mra 0. Smaill black Bilk, Mra Denniston a very rioh dress. The newlyonarried oouple have reoeived some 50 presents, among them being a handsome piano from the father of the bride, two oil paintings, hand-painted screens and fans, clocks, massive vases, silver biscuit boxes, silver rings and salt cellars, lamps^ tea and coffee servioe, dinner servioe, teapots, orueta, oake basket, outlery, &0., &o. The bride's travelling dress waa of very rioh prune colored velvet elegantly trimmed. The weather was all that oould be desired, and happy therefore should the bride be.
