THE LABOR RIOTS.
One hundred thousand men, principally miners, are out on strike in Brussels, and disturbances, attended with much violence, are frequent. A general strike is taking place among the carpenters in Vienna for uiae hours per day In the Supreme Court, Brisbane, while a witness in the conspiracy case was describing the manner in which the unionists met the free laborers at Clermont, and how the police declined to act without orders, Judge Hardiug remarked :— " As the police were all armed with six-shooters, there would not have been many who wouli have boohooed a second time if I had been one of the police. It is monstrous, to consider how any free nation is to exist when such things are considered justifiable and allowable." His honor condemned the conduct of the police in not making arrests.
