NORTH ISLAND BAND CONTEST.
WANGANUI WINS THE BESSON SHIELD. NELSON THE B GRADE. [press association.] AVANGANUI, March 18. The band contest was concluded today : In the final test Wanganui scored 136 points and Petone 126, making their totals 386 and 328, Wanganui thus winning the championship, and the Besson Shield now becomes their property. In the B Grade, Nelson and Gisborne tied with 130 points and the Wanganui City was next with 116. Nelson therefore wins the shield with a. total of 378, Gisborne next with 368, and Wanganui third with 352.
