CHOSSBREDS ADVANCE 5 TO 10 PER CENT. (Received January 19, 11.5 a.m.) LONDON, January 18. The wool sales have opened with brisk competition. Crossbreds advanced 5 to 10 per cent. The High Commissioner cables: Wool sales have commenced with great competitions; America and Continent strong; buyers' trade good; prospects are favorable : manufacturers are waiting for supplies ±ne New Zealand wools catalogued amount to 41,700 bales. Merino of all o-rades is verv firm at closing rates of last sale. Fine crossbreds show a rise of £d; medium and coarse ditto have advanced fully Id per lb.
