In the case against the master of the steamer Cygnet, for alleged overcrowding the, vessel- at Akaroa on Easter Monday, the witnesses were unable to say how many persons were •aboard. No one counted \\w. passengers, or was able to make an estimate. The Magistrate said evidence must be clear. The vessel was licensed for 366, and being small perhaps she seemed overcrowded.
