James Arthur Crooks. wife's petition, on the giwuuls of )ji<j;aniv and miscontlxict. Marie Emineline Ethel Hapeta. a : young European woman, petitioned on the ground -of desertion for tho dissolution of her marriage with Moani Hapota. There was no appearance of the respondent. Tho petitioner said that after her marriage at Otaki respondent took her to his father's place among Maoris. He knocked her about and did not support her, spending his money' in drink. Mr Jnstico Chapman granted a decree nisi, with an interim order that the. wife should have the custody of the only child of tlie marriage. NAPIER, to-day. Sitting in divorce to-day Mr Justice Chapman granted a decree nisi in William Reading v. Florence Reading and Robert Douglas Anderson . CHK-ISTCHURCH, last night. In the Divorce Court decrees were granted to-day in the cases of William A. Jennings v. Maud J'ennings, for alleged misconduct ; Annie Capill v. Alexander Capill, desertion and misconduct. A man named James Weston pleaded guilty to-day on a charge of making a false declaration to obtain a marriage certificate, he being at the time already married, and was committed to the Supreme Court for sentence.
